Better off getting the Breville Barista Express for $528, they're outstanding machines, and lots of aftermarket stuff is compatible with them.

I've had both and they're similar. The ninja is easier and better if you just want a great milk coffee (flat white, latte or macchiato), cold press or filtered. The Breville is better if you're keen on putting in the effort to get closest to a really good coffee shop, but it's less set-and-forget. For comparison: I bought this ninja from bing lee on 31/12/2025 for $509.72 delivered.

I have the ninja as well and it works great for our needs. It's basically plug and play and I dont have to feel I need to be a barrister to get a decent coffee. We upgraded from the pods about 2 months ago and I am not looking back. Love the cold brews that this makes too.

The ninja also has their barista assist guiding software, if you just do what you're told to you'd get OK lattes without having to learn everything. I.e. my wife can just make a latte herself without me having to dial in and weigh beans out. If you're going for convenience and ease, go all in for the Ninja. If you're going down the "coffee is a hobby and I want to learn" route, the grinder on the Breville isn't good enough and you might as well have bought a separate grinder and machine.

I bought the Ninja recently coming from Pods. I was worried the wife who loves convenience over price would find it difficult to make coffee and would complain about the supposed mess over Pod coffee. To my surprise she got the hang of it very quickly and NO COMPLAINTS. Bought it 2-3 months ago, got it price matched at J B Hifi, paid just a little over $500.00. Very easy machine to use, way better than Pods.
