  We’re already working on adding Merino beanies for the next release, as we wanted Southmer to gradually expand beyond scarves and socks into a more complete winter essentials range. For the first launch, we chose socks because they’re practical for everyday wear and easier for gifting, but a beanie version is definitely on the roadmap.

  For scarves designed for everyday wear, 100% wool isn’t always the best option. Pure wool can pill more easily and may wear out faster with regular friction and washing. We chose a wool blend intentionally to improve durability, shape retention and daily comfort, while still keeping the warmth and softness of Australian Merino wool. We also use RWS-certified wool and OEKO-TEX certified materials rather than low-grade synthetic fibres often seen in cheaper winter sets. The goal for us wasn’t to make the cheapest scarf possible — it was to make something comfortable, wearable and practical for everyday Australian winter use.
