They're dry airlines ( No Alcohol will be served) and they're very very strict in baggage policy and some routes don't have cabin personal items (3kg) allowance. Check before booking with them. Otherwise they are ok.

Great price for ski season. Ski equipment counts as separate luggage allowance if you sign up for Royal Brunei airline membership (free) https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/944857

Can anything be done in a 7 hour layover in Brunei?

Yeah the centre of town is pretty close to the airport so you could easily catch a ride in and have a look around. It's not particularly cheap but I'd recommend a private boat trip along the river and into the floating village.

No. I flew this route last year. Mind you it was a replacement ticket after trip.com messed up my original tickets, purchased 1 week before departure at about the same price. You will land at 6PM so there is barely anything open anymore. Even the few stores within the terminal are mostly closed. We walked around and found 1 convenience store, 1 dessert shop, 1 souvenir shop, 1 cafe which is Starbucks adjacent. There are also a couple of vending machines selling premade boxed meal next to a microwave. We found a quiet room with cozy-looking reclined chairs so we took a nap there. Nowhere to store your carry on luggage safely though, just need to keep them close.
